Anderson Continuing Education - Before moving here, I attended University of California at Riverside. When I got hired here, this was how I even learned about OSU through their job posting. So when I got hired and learned what they do, putting degrees online, it kind of made me think about completing my own degree and ways that I can do that.
So, I was lucky that a lot of my courses that I needed for my degree in Psychology were available online and I was also lucky to work for a department that was big on education and furthering your education. The number one challenge was actually finding the time to pursue my degree.
Being a full-time student and full-time staff was definitely a challenge so a big part of that was eCampus allowing me the time to take off to work, to go to school and also having online classes that I could take to fill out my schedule. I think the most important lesson that I've learned from the university as a student and an employee is community and giving back and taking an interest in those around you in your community. A big part of my time here has been spent working on the food drive for OSU that they do for the Linn-Benton food center. It's been very inspirational, so I plan to stay involved with that charity. I really want to say thank you to this institution because it allows for so many opportunities and there's such an environment of encouragement especially in pursuing higher education or even just personal enrichment.
